All in all we had a wonderful time and really enjoyed it.We are happy to be open and ready for you to camp. Gas prices varied from 3.78-3.89 a gallon. A lot of the hotel parking lots were empty or didn't have very many cars in them.
Traffic just wasn't there and the crowds weren't either. We were able to get up and down the parkway in just minutes and not an hour. I have to say gas prices and the economy are affecting the area.
Back to the cabin for the hot tub and bed.įriday- packed our stuff and headed out to get back home. Stopped at the winery and bought a few bottles of wine and then shopped the gift stores. Again the food was delicious and our waitress, Gosha (she's from Poland), was excellent. The hubby was great at waiting for us girls to shop and then he paid. Found a few good deals and parking was great. I talked to one of the employees and they said that the first show only had about 450, the second was sold out, and the last had about 750 people. The show starts with Texas longhorns then an Indian Dance which is awesome. Warning- the horses did kick some dirt up on us at toward the beginning but that was the only time during the show.
We decided to sit in the preferred section this time. As usual the food was good and the show was entertaining. Back to the cabin for a short nap and then off to Dixie Stampede. Wednesday- Headed to Gatlinburg and shopped, rode the chair lift downtown and had to stop by Ole Smokey candy store for some fudge, divinity, and chocolate cherries. Headed back to cabin and grilled steaks for dinner. The kids rode the Tennessee Tornado coaster 5 times in a row at the end of the day just to get the perfect picture. The park wasn't crowded and we had only a 5 minute wait time at the most on the rides. Tuesday- light breakfast at the cabin then headed out to Dollywood for the day. Back to the cabin for a roast we started earlier in the crock pot. Stopped at the Marble Slab Creamery for ice cream. Went back to the cabin for a snack then back out to ride go carts and play putt putt golf. Finally started the tour around the cove and enjoyed the drive stopping at a few of the buildings. The horses were really good and our guide was very friendly. We saw several turkeys and deer, and the cicadas were out and loud. We stopped at the first one in the park that was open and rode for an hour on the trail. The kids decided they would rather do horseback riding instead of the aquarium later.
We stopped at several places along the way just to take pictures before getting to the actual tour and saw a red fox along the way. Monday- up early and fixed a large breakfast then decided to go to Cades Cove. Decided we would just rest and play cards for the night. Arrived Sunday afternoon at our cabin, unloaded the truck, went to Kroger and picked up a few things we forgot back home and then grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner.
